Terms of Use

1. Who we are. This website, humemill.com, is operated by Hume & Mill LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company ("Hume & Mill," "we," "us"). By using the site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

2. Information only — no professional advice. Everything on this site, including the essays on The Desk, is for general information and discussion. It is not legal, tax, accounting, or investment advice, and it is not a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security. Hume & Mill is not a law firm, a CPA firm, or a registered investment adviser. Please consult a qualified, licensed professional about your specific situation.

2a. Opinions only. The essays, commentary, and other views on this site are the opinions of their authors at the time of writing, offered for general information, reflection, and inspiration. They are not statements of law, are not tailored to any person's circumstances, and may change without notice. Historical and market examples are illustrations, not predictions; past events do not indicate future results. You alone are responsible for any decision you make, and you should not act on anything here without independent advice from a qualified, licensed professional.

3. No professional–client relationship. Using this site or sending us a message does not create an attorney–client, accountant–client, advisory, or any other professional relationship. A relationship with us begins only when both parties sign a written engagement letter, and that letter governs the work.

4. Messages you send us. Please do not send confidential, privileged, or sensitive information, passwords, or documents through the contact form. Information you send before an engagement is signed is not treated as confidential and does not prevent us from working with anyone else. Messages are delivered through a third-party form service (FormSubmit). See our Privacy Policy for details. You agree not to send unlawful, abusive, or automated messages.

5. Intellectual property. The text, design, logos, and images on this site belong to Hume & Mill or its licensors. You may share short excerpts with attribution and a link. Any other copying, republication, or commercial use requires our written permission.

6. No warranties. The site and its content are provided "as is" and "as available." We try to keep the content accurate, but we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. Content may be out of date.

7. Limitation of liability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Hume & Mill and its members, managers, and contractors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or investment value, arising from your use of the site or reliance on its content. Our total liability for any claim relating to the site will not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars (US$100).

8. Links. Links to third-party sites are provided for convenience. We are not responsible for their content or practices.

9. Governing law and venue. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute relating to the site will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Wyoming, and you consent to their jurisdiction. Nothing in this section limits any mandatory consumer protection that applies to you under the law of your country of residence.

10. Changes. We may update these Terms at any time by posting a new version on this page. Continued use of the site means you accept the updated Terms.

11. Contact. Questions about these Terms can be sent through the contact form on humemill.com.
